A 3-day climb via the Naro Moru Route is the fastest and most direct path to summit Point Lenana (4,985m) on Mount Kenya, starting and ending in Nairobi.

Itinerary Overview

  • Day 1: Nairobi to Met Station (3,050m)
    • Drive 4 hours from Nairobi to Naro Moru Gate (2,400m).
    • Hike 3–4 hours (approx. 9 km) through the rainforest and bamboo belt.
    • Overnight at Met Station. [1, 2, 3]
  • Day 2: Met Station to Mackinder’s Camp (4,200m)
    • Trek 5–6 hours through the moorland zone.
    • Cross the steep and muddy “Vertical Bog” into Teleki Valley.
    • Overnight at Mackinder’s Camp.
  • Day 3: Summit Push and Return to Nairobi
    • Start at 2:00 AM for a pre-dawn 3–4 hour hike to reach Point Lenana (4,985m) by sunrise.
    • Descend back past Mackinder’s Camp and Met Station down to Naro Moru Gate.
    • Transfer back to Nairobi in the afternoon.
